University Hospital Foča

The “University Hospital Foča” Public Health Institution compound includes five facilities.

The Facility B – central building of the hospital is of a permanent type, solid construction, with the number of floors ranging from LG(Lower Ground)+GF+1 to GF+4.

Total floor area of the facility is 7,588 m2 whereas the total number of users on annual level is 6,629.

It was built in 1958.

This facility has been included in the first phase of Foča hospital retrofitting, whereas the other facilities were included in the second phase of retrofitting in order to increase energy efficiency in the facilities.

Average indoor temperature in the facility prior to implementation of energy efficiency measures was around 16-17°C, whereas upon completed retrofitting, indoor temperature of the facility reached the projected 20, i.e. 22°C.

The following energy efficiency measures have been implemented within the Facility B of Foča University Hospital compound:

Implemented energy efficiency measures

  • external walls thermal insulation
  • replacement of external windows and doors
  • thermal insulation of attic structure and pitched roof
  • heating system retrofitting (replacement of existing boilers with new pellet-fuelled boilers, installation of thermostatic valves, pumps and other).

Objectives

  • reduction of energy consumption,
  • reduction of CO2 emissions,
  • reduction of energy overhead costs,
  • increase of comfort indoors,
  • raising awareness on importance of energy efficiency.

The total energy savings expected on annual level are around 50%.

Other facilities of “University Hospital Foča” PHI compound are pavilions A, C, and D built in 1968, and pavilion E built in 1974. The total net floor area of these facilities is 5,919.00 m2, whereas the total number of users on annual level is 6,118.

Pavilion A receives heating energy from the boiler room located in Pavilion B, whereas the other pavilions receive heating energy from the boiler room located in Pavilion D.

The following energy efficiency measures have been implemented within the Pavilions A, C, D and E of the Foča Hospital:

Implemented energy efficiency measures

  • external walls thermal insulation
  • replacement of external windows and doors
  • thermal insulation of attic structure and pitched roof
  • heating system retrofitting (installation of new pellet-fuelled boilers, installation of thermostatic valves, pumps, retrofitting of heating pipes and other).

Objectives

  • reduction of energy consumption,
  • reduction of CO2 emissions,
  • reduction of energy overhead costs,
  • increase of comfort indoors,
  • raising awareness on importance of energy efficiency.

The total energy savings expected on annual level for Pavilion A are around 50%, i.e. 55% for Pavilions C, D and E.
