Faculty of Science and Mathematics Banja Luka

The facility dates back from 1933 and it was originally “Teachers’ Training School” with gymnasium which was adapted into a lecture room (an amphitheatre).

The total heated area of the facility including the ancillary facility is around 3,195.00 m2. The facility of the faculty is of a free-standing type, solid construction, with number of storeys LF+GF+2. The total number of users is 1,688 on annual level. The facility is under protection of the Republic Institute for Protection of Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage of Republic of Srpska.

Before implementation of energy efficient measures, average indoor temperature in the facility was around 17°C, whereas after performed retrofits, indoor temperature has reached the projected 20°C.

The following energy efficiency measures have been implemented within the facility of the “Faculty of Science and Mathematics”

Implemented energy efficiency measures

  • external walls thermal insulation
  • replacement of external windows and doors
  • thermal insulation of attic structure
  • roof cover replacement
  • lighting system renewal
  • heating system retrofitting (replacement of existing boilers with new pellet-fuelled boilers, installation of thermostatic valves, heat pumps and other)

Objectives

  • reduction of energy consumption
  • reduction of CO2 emissions
  • reduction of energy overhead costs
  • increase of comfort indoors
  • raising awareness on importance of energy efficiency

The total energy savings expected on annual level are around 60%.
